The tech giant also put new faces in charge of the App Store and hardware tech.

Apple named longtime company vet Jeff Williams its chief operating officer today, filling a role that has been vacant since Tim Cook became CEO in August 2011.
"Jeff is hands-down the best operations executive I've ever worked with," Cook said, in a statement.
Williams has worked for the tech giant since 1998 in procurement and operations, and has expertise in Apple's famed, ultrafast supply chain.
In addition to naming Williams COO, Apple also announced today that Phil Schiller, Apple's well-known senior vice president of marketing, will expand his responsibilities to lead the App Store on all platforms, and that Johny Srouji, previously a vice president of hardware design, will become part of Apple's executive suit as senior vice president of hardware technologies.
